"Pee Mak" is a Thai comedy horror film released in 2013 and directed by Banjong Pisanthanakun. The film is a modern adaptation of the famous Thai folk tale, "Mae Nak Phra Khanong."
"Pee Mak" tells the story of a man named Mak (played by Mario Maurer) who has just returned to his village after fighting in the war. He, along with his four friends, Ter (played by Nakhun Screaigh) and others, decided to live together in the village. Mak goes home happy because he can be reunited with his wife, Nak (played by Davika Hoorne), and their newborn son.
However, there is something strange about Mak and Nak's lives. Mak did not realize that his wife had died during the birth of their first child. Even though Mak's friends try to tell him about this reality, Mak doesn't seem to accept the fact that Nak is actually a ghost who still lives with them.
The story continues with various funny and tense incidents as Mak's friends try to prove that Nak is actually dead. The film combines elements of comedy, horror and drama, while maintaining a distinctive Thai feel and local ghost mythology.
"Pee Mak" succeeded in becoming one of the most successful films in the Thai film industry and received positive reception from audiences and critics. This film presents a unique combination of horror suspense and comedy which makes it an interesting watch.
