The reasons why I chose to major in English.

 

Hello, everyone! My name is Luciana, and I'd like to share the reasons why I chose to major in English.

Initially, before graduating from high school, I had plans for my further education with two possible majors in mind. I am someone who enjoys planning things out in my mind before putting them into action. I had two majors in mind that I wanted to pursue: computer science and English education.

Towards the end of my high school years, I participated in the university entrance exam preparation program (SMPTKIN) and chose the computer science track. Unfortunately, I didn't pass the exam, and right from the beginning, I was declared unsuccessful due to issues with my grades since I was a transfer student during my time in high school.

Because of this, I only had one remaining option, which was English language. I took the SPAN PTKIN test and was declared successful. I felt happy and extremely enthusiastic. While English is a language I appreciate, I find it challenging to understand. Specifically, I enjoy English songs but am lazy to study the language.

Another reason I chose the English major is that I want to be able to communicate in my own way. 

Locally, I chose English because it's an international language, making it easier to find a job, although the reality remains challenging. Those are my reasons for choosing the English major.
